What it evaluates
- Lung capacity
- The speed at which we exhale
- Any obstruction of the airways
In which cases is it recommended
Spirometry is essential for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), but also for checking respiratory capacity in smokers.

Body Plethysmography
Body plethysmography is a more specialized examination that measures the total volume of air in the lungs, including the air that we cannot expel with exhalation.
What it offers
- Accurate measurement of lung capacity
- Detection of restrictive or obstructive disorders
- Necessary for specialized diagnosis of dyspnea
With this method we can have a complete picture of respiratory function, something that is not revealed only with spirometry.

Blood Gases
Blood gas testing provides information on the levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, as well as on the acid-base balance in the body.
Why it is important
- It evaluates the proper oxygenation of the body
- It shows if there is a respiratory or metabolic imbalance
- It is critical in serious diseases and in intensive care
The sample is taken from an artery and the results help in immediate therapeutic decisions.
